New York Yankees fans could learn the fate of third baseman Alex Rodriguez as soon as Monday.
Major League Baseball is expected to suspend Rodriguez and several other major league players connected to Biogenesis, the alleged performance-enhancing distribution clinic in Miami.
On Sunday, the New York Post reported Rodriguez, who hasn't played a game this season following off-season surgery on his left hip, might be barred for the final two months of the regular season and the entire 2014 campaign.
He's currently nursing a Grade 1 quadriceps strain and could begin a rehab assignment later in the week.
In 2009, Rodriguez admitted to taking PEDs while playing for the Texas Rangers during a three-year period beginning in 2001 but has denied any alleged relationship with Biogenesis founder Tony Bosch.
Rodriguez, who reiterated during a radio interview on WFAN New York radio last week that his representatives have not been working with MLB on a plea agreement, is expected to fight any suspension the league may impose.
Rodriguez's 10 years with the Yankees alone has been a roller-coaster ride, from his feud with teammate Derek Jeter to doping allegations to poor playoff performances, and will probably be remembered more for controversy than success.
